In Loving Memory Of
NICOLAS D. MCLESTER
ATLANTA, GA
Celebrating a Life Well-Lived
HIS STORY
NICOLAS DEVAUGHN MCLESTER, also affectionately known as “Nick” and “Tonka,” was born on January 2, 1978, to Harold Sr. and Linda McLester. He was 48 years young. Nick was a very outgoing, hardworking, humorous, and compassionate individual who genuinely loved people. Those who knew Nick closely will remember him as an avid Atlanta Falcons fan, a man who loved fashion, a seafood lover, a master griller, and OOOH Nick could throw down in the kitchen! Nick loved to travel by planes and trains; but when it came to automobiles, his vehicles of choice were his Caddies. Captivated by ocean life, Nick developed a deep and immediate passion for cruising. He also loved attending all genres of sporting events. Nick was very hospitable and always opened his home to many family gatherings, creating countless memories with those he loved. It would be remiss not to mention one of the things so many people will always remember about Nick, his infectious smile. At the tender age of eight, Nick was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church North under the leadership of Dr. Cameron M. Alexander. Later in his adult life, he joined Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral under the leadership of Bishop Dale C. Bronner. Nick’s favorite Bible scripture was Colossians 3:20, which reads: “Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.” Throughout his school years, Nick was a student in the Atlanta Public School system and graduated from D.M. Therrell High School in 1996. He was a star athlete, playing both football and baseball. He later attended Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia on a football scholarship. Nick devoted 26 years of service to FedEx where he served with diligence and integrity. During his tenure at FedEx, Nick trained for and earned his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), ultimately becoming an 18-wheel tractor-trailer driver. Nick’s strong work ethic and dedication propelled his professional success. In March 2025, Nick was acknowledged and recognized as a devoted and outstanding employee at FedEx, a reflection of the commitment and work ethic he demonstrated throughout his career. Of all his accomplishments, one of Nick’s greatest joys came when he became a “PawPaw” to his two beautiful grandchildren. His love, time, and devotion to his family were unmatched. Those who will forever cherish Nick’s memory include his loving parents, Harold Sr. and Linda McLester; his two children, Nasavione McLester and N’Kiya McLester, whom he shared with his former wife, Tacharmne Wynn; his two beloved grandchildren, Ja’Nari and Chozen; his three siblings, Andrea (Patrick) Bolden, Harold Jr. (Audra) McLester, and Samson McLester;
his 21 nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends, with a special acknowledgment to Aunt Genie. Nick’s presence, laughter, generosity, love for family, and unforgettable smile touched countless lives. Though he will be deeply missed, the love he gave, the memories he created, and the joy he brought to his family and friends will remain with them forever.
