Marion R. McMillan Jr.

Marion R. McMillan, Jr. was born on December 23, 1927, in Cleveland, Ohio. After relocating to Atlanta in 1937, he graduated Booker T. Washington High School in 1944 and served in the U.S. Navy (1946-1948). He earned a B.S. in Education from South Carolina State University in 1953. Known affectionately as 'Coach', Marion dedicated his life to shaping young minds as an educator and Athletic Director with the Atlanta Board of Education. Many of his athletes earned Division I and II scholarships, with several advancing to the NFL. On December 23, 1953, he married the love of his life, Herlene Smith McMillan, with whom he had five children. Marion peacefully transitioned on Monday, March 2, 2026.
